Laken HomeGuard LLC was built on a simple principle: proactive care prevents costly problems.

The idea for the business came after a costly issue at my parents’ lake home near Castle Rock Lake. During the winter, the water line to the refrigerator’s ice maker froze and eventually burst. Because the home was vacant at the time, the problem went unnoticed until neighbors saw water running out of the basement. By then, the damage had already caused thousands of dollars in repairs.

That experience highlighted how quickly small issues can become major problems when a home sits unattended.

Before starting Laken HomeGuard, I worked in my family’s business selling, installing, and servicing milking equipment for dairy farms. In that industry, downtime isn’t just inconvenient — it’s costly and disruptive. Farms operate 24/7, and neither did we take nights or weekends off.

I was part of the around-the-clock service rotation responding to urgent calls when equipment failed. One of my primary responsibilities was preventative maintenance and scheduled service. By routinely inspecting systems, replacing worn components, and addressing small issues early, we significantly reduced emergency breakdowns.

That same proactive mindset now guides every visit at Laken HomeGuard.
